Dicksboro Development update One could be forgiven for thinking the ploughing championships have moved to Palmerstown with those furrows 🚜 Grounds Chairman Jimmy McGarry & co. have been very busy with the drainage works on pitch 2 this past while. Major investment has taken place to bring the standard of water drainage off the pitch up to that of most prominent county grounds. This will ensure usage can continue long into the winter months and more. Over 300 tonnes of topsoil has been removed from the pitch and replaced with pores gravel & fine sand drills to a depth of 14’ inches in over 60 vertical and 20 horizontal drains across the pitch. All ensuring that water run off system is never more than 0.6 meters away over the entire surface area. The pitch is recovering quicker than expected and should Mother Nature be on our side with some autumn rain we should see the pitch back in action by the end of September. Whilst waiting for rain our team of “Waterboys” are doing the club proud 💦 The cost of these works have been funded with the help of the weekly Boro Development lotto and also by a generous Sports Captial Grant for which we are very grateful. We thank all members who continue to play the lotto weekly. Without this vital income stream over the past 20 years we would not have the top class facilities which we do.
