2020 has been a tough year for everyone away from the hurling field. But due to a fantastic communal effort from all aspects of Dicksboro GAA & Camogie clubs we had a fantastic summer of hurling & camogie in the Boro that lifted all our spirits when it was needed most. First of all thanks to our players, parents, coaches & covid supervisors for being so vigilant with regard to covid regulations throughout the year. We also say thank you to our fantastic club members who volunteered & organised the community support delivery service around the parish. We stayed connected even when we were staying apart through Ger Egans fantastic Boro Zoom Quizzes, 'isolation pucks' where club members showed off their hurling skills from the safety of their homes. The June Bank Holiday weekend brought fantastic sunshine & our 'Maroon Miles' charity fundraiser illustrated brilliant club spirit with so many getting out in the Boro colours and getting active. A massive tidy up of our Palmerstown & St James Park grounds was completed by our club players & groundsmen. The Boro summer camp was another success. Thanks to Niamh Holohan & Orla Hanrick & their helpers for organising such a great, safe week when it looked like it may not be possible. Our new Astroturf ball wall was completed by our own longterm club members Sean & Kevin Moore. It's a fantastic facility. Our weekly lotto went online due to covid19 & has been a fantastic help to the club. Thanks to Jason Dempsey for all his hard work off the field with regard to fundraising. During the year we said goodbye to one of our greatest club volunteers and friends Kitty Phelan. Kitty gave years to supporting the Boro on the field & off it. Joanie Knox & Kitty helped run the club lotto for many years & always had a smile for you on Thursday nights in Palmerstown. We will miss her alot. On the field at underage & adult level it was all go. But it was fantastic to see so many boys & girls of all ages out in Palmerstown & James Park playing hurling & camogie. Looking back now it was quite the medicine. So Happy New Year to Dicksboro people everywhere. Stay safe & we will see yee all soon back in Palmerstown in MaroonπΆπ¦ππͺ
