What a day in Mayo Yesterday for the Boro Fèile camogie girls. After 5 really tough exciting games the Boro girls made the long journey home to Kilkenny as Division 1 @gaafeile Shield Winners.

After travelling west on Friday morning the Boro girls spent the day in Athlone. After a light puck-around in @garrycastlegaa the players swam, shopped & watched a movie to relax before Saturdays action got going.

First up on Saturday was Newmarket from Clare who defeated the Boro girls on a scireline of 1-1 to 6pts. Meabhdh Doherty getting the Boro goal.

Next up was another tough battle with eventual champions Turloughmore who defeated the Boro girls on a scoreline of 1-5 to 1-3 in a game which was close all through. Again Meadhbh Doherty struck the Boro goal. Our final group game against Newcastle West saw the Boro again defeated by a 2 point margin in a close affair.

On to a shield semi final where Lucan Sarsfields of Dublin were our opponents. After a slow start the Boro girls kicked into gear to win with Boro corner forward Sophie O'Riordain striking 1-2 late on to send the Boro into the shield final.

The shield final was another very tight affair in a rematch against Newcastle West. A string of brilliant saves by Boro keeper Kate Meighan & another goal by Sophie O'Riordain along with super performances all over the field led the Boro to our first ever @gaafeile Division 1 Shield triumph.

There were great smiles at the final whistle as the Boro supporters & families congratulated this fantastic panel of players and management.

Well done to all our brilliant players who we are all so proud of after a brilliant local & national Fèile campaign. We hope you enjoyed the Feile experience & representing Dicksboro on the All Ireland stage. Ye were great.

Thanks to the players families & friends for helping out with the feile effort over the last few months & for such great support and colour in Mayo Yesterday. It was great to see such Boro support.

Finally to a fantastic management team of Jason, Conor, Denise, John, Mick, Michael & Ivan a huge thank you & well done on all your work. You gave this group of Boro girls a weekend to remember.
